La idea no es mía. No sé si me fue sugerida por Augusto Garrido Huergo o si de tanto leer a Borges entendí por fin lo que ya estaba en sus palabras. Lo cierto es que ahora me entrego a la tarea de coleccionar y ofrecer a todos los hombres el fragmento de la visión del Aleph -incluido en el cuento El Aleph incluido en el libro El Aleph- traducido a todas las lenguas del orbe. ¡Qué Babilonia bulla!
Mi intensión es brindar el texto traducido en todos los idiomas del mundo para que cualquier persona pueda leer el fragmento más famoso del cuento más famoso del libro más famoso de Borges en su propia lengua, y esto sirva como una manera de fomentar el interés por leer al gran escritor argentino.
Como curiosidad, se agregarán audios con las lecturas correspondientes a cada uno de los idiomas a los que haya sido traducido el texto. Si querés, podés colaborar aportando la traducción a tu propia lengua y leyéndola para todo el mundo.
Por supuesto que el texto ya está traducido a varios idiomas y el libro se comercializa en librerías. Lo ideal sería que la persona se encargue de conseguir el libro y de copiar los dos párrafos referidos a la visión del Aleph, citando las referencias editoriales del libro. No estaría mal que el fragmento sea traducido por la propia persona, pero tendría que traducirse directamente del castellano para estar lo más cerca posible del original. Igualmente, esta última opción no es la mejor ya que el arte de la traducción no es nada sencillo: el traductor tendría que conocer muy bien la obra de Borges, tendría que poder entonar su voz mentalmente para sentir el énfasis de las expresiones, las sutilezas del lenguaje y las finuras de las expresiones. Además debería manejar perfectamente el castellano y su propio idioma. Si te sentís capacitado para hacerlo, adelante.
En todos los casos se sugiere omitir los textos que circulan por internet ya que muchas veces el material que se encuentra no es de la mejor calidad y su origen es del todo incierto.
Es importante, también, contar con una imagen de la tapa del libro en cada uno de sus idiomas para ilustrar las distintas versiones. Escaneá la tapa con la mayor calidad posible y guardala en formatao JPG. Si no podés esanearla, sacale una buena foto (tené en cuenta la luz, el cuadro, el foco y la resolución) con una cámara digital.
Sé que puede ser una incomodidad ir a una librería a comprar el libro o buscar una biblioteca para tenerlo a mano, pero la gracia es justamente que todo esto sea artesanal, que cada uno de los que participa en fomentar la lectura de Borges haga su propio esfuerzo y eso lo lleve también a interesarse por leerlo.
Las lecturas en voz alta deberán ser hechas por varones adultos (porque el narrador del texto es un varón adulto) y el lector deberá tener por lengua materna el idioma correspondiente a la traducción (para evitar que se pierdan matices en la pronunciación y en la entonación). Sugiero que el lector antes de grabar el fragmento en cuestión lea el cuento completo una, dos, tres veces y todas las que necesite para compenetrarse con las circunstancias de la visión. El fragmento es quizás uno de los momentos más dramáticos de la literatura argentina y universal, eso tiene que poder transmitirse con la voz. También sugiero que ensaye tres o cuatro veces la lectura del texto en voz alta registrando la grabación para que luego se escuche a sí mismo y pueda mejorarla hasta alcanzar la que más lo satisfaga.
Por último, lo mejor es que el audio provenga del país de origen de la lengua, es decir: la versión sueca, de Suecia, la francesa, de Francia, la rusa, de Rusia y así... porque me interesa mostrar no sólo la diversidad de idiomas sino también la expansión geográfica de la obra, el nombre y la figura de Borges. Nada me costaría ir al consulado o embajada de los distintos países en Buenos Aires y buscar traductores o lectores que estén dispuestos a leerlo pero eso le quitaría encanto. Lo bueno es mostrar cómo un hombre, un texto y una cultura (en este caso, la argentina) pueden desparramarse, mezclarse y trastocar todas las demás culturas del mundo.

Si la sacaste de un libro, incluí la siguiente información editorial del libro en tu idioma original y luego en castellano o inglés: nombre del autor, nombre de la editorial, lugar, fecha, páginas en la que figura el fragmento. Por ejemplo:

Donde "Хорхе Луис Борхес/Jorge Luis Borges" corresponde al nombre del autor, "Проза разных лет/Prosa de varios años" (en cursiva) al nombre del libro, "Издательство «Радуга»/Casa editoara «Raduga»" al nombre de la editorial, "Москва/Moscú" a la ciudad de publicación, "1989" al año de publicación, y "стр. 195, 196/páginas 195 y 196." corresponde a las páginas en la que figura el fragmento en el libro citado. El nombre del autor debe estar separado de los datos editoriales por punto y seguido (por ejemplo: Jorge Luis Borges.). Los datos editoriales deben estar separados entre sí por comas (por ejemplo: Prosa de varios años, Casa editora “Raduga”, Moscú, 1989, páginas 195 y 196.). Recordá que los nombres propios deben escribirse con mayúscula (por ejemplo: El Aleph).
El título del texto debe ser el siguiente: El Aleph -fragmento-. Donde "El Aleph" corresponde al nombre del cuento y el agregado "-fragmento-" señala que no se trata de la obra completa sino de un extracto de ella.

Donde "Czytane przez/Leído por" indica la acción realizada y señala al sujeto responsable, "Bogusława Sielawę/Boguslaw Sielawa" corresponde al nombre de la persona que leyó en voz alta el audio grabado, "w Warszawie/en la ciudad de Varsovia" refiere a la ciudad en la que se realizó la grabación de la lectura, "(Polska)/(Polonia)" al país en el que se encuentra dicha ciudad, "na 14 lutego 2011/el 14 de febrero de 2011" corresponde a la fecha exacta en la que fue registrada la lectura, y "o 16.50/a las 16:50" a la hora en la que fue hecho el registro.
La tapa del libro debe ser escaneada en formato JPG con la mayor resolución posible y enviada junto con el texto y el audio. En caso de no poder ser escaneada, sacale una foto con una cámara digital en primer plano. La tapa del libro debe ocupar el cuadro completo, la imagen debe estar en foco y tener buena luz. Antes de tomar las fotos, asegurate que la cámara esté preparada para tomar la mejor calidad posible de imagen. Si es necesario tomá muchas fotos y envialas todas.

The idea is not mine. Perhaps it was suggested by Augusto Garrido Huergo or maybe the constant reading of Borges made me finally understand what was already inside his words. Anyhow, the truth is that now I command myself to the task of collecting and offering to all mankind the fragment of the Aleph’s vision -which is included in the book The Aleph - translated to every language in the world. Let Babylon racket!
My intention is to provide the text translated into every language in the world, so that any person can read the most famous fragment from the most famous short story from Borges’ most famous book in their own language, and may this be a way to encourage the interest in reading the great Argentine writer.
Also, audio material will be provided containing a reading of the text performed in the translated language. If you wish, you can collaborate by providing a translation into your own language and then reading it for everyone around the world to listen.
As you all may know, this text has already been translated into several languages and the book is sold in the bookshops. The ideal thing would be getting the book and straight afterwards copying the two paragraphs referred to the Aleph’s vision, quoting the publishing details of the book. It would not be wrong if the fragment is translated by the person itself, but it should be translated directly from the Spanish version so that it would be as close to the original version as possible. Anyway, this last option is not the best one, as the art of translation is not an easy one: the translator should be very familiar with Borges’ work, he should be able to mentally hear Borges’ voice inside his head in order to feel the strength of each expression, the subtleties of the language and the refinement of the expressions. He should also be proficient in Spanish as well as in his own language. If you feel capable of doing this, go ahead.
In every case, it is suggested to omit the texts going around the internet, as many times the material you can find there is not of the best quality and it’s origin is quite uncertain.
It is important to have a picture of the book’s cover for every language in order to show the different versions. Scan the cover applying the best possible quality and save it in JPG format. If you can not scan it, take a photo with a digital camera (considering the light, the frame, the focus and the image resolution).
I know it can be inconvenient to go to a bookshop and buy the book or to look for it at a library, but the sense of this job is to make everything home-made and to participate in encouraging the reading of Borges.
The reading out loud shall be done by adult males (since the narrator of the story is an adult male) and the reader’s mother tongue shall be the language used in the translation (in order to avoid missing nuances of pronunciation and intonation). I suggest that before recording the fragment, the reader reads the full short story once, twice, three times and as many as he needs to get into the circumstances of the vision. The fragment is perhaps one of the most dramatic ones in Argentine and universal literature, this should be communicated by the voice. I also suggest to rehearse and record the reading of the text out loud three or four times, so that the reader can listen to himself and can improve the recording up to the level that pleases him the most.
Finally, the best would be for the audio material to belong to the country where the language originally comes from. For instance, the Swedish version, from Sweden; the French version, from France; the Russian version, from Russia, and so on… because I am interested in showing not only the diversity of languages, but the geographical expansion of Borges’ work, his name and figure. It would not be difficult for me to go to the consulates and embassies in Buenos Aires and ask for translators or readers willing to read the fragment, but I think this would take away the magic. The good thing is to show how a man, a text and a culture (in this case, the Argentine one) can be spread, get mixed up and can influence all the other cultures in the world.

Where "Хорхе Луис Борхес/Jorge Luis Borges" refers to the name of the author,"Проза разных лет/Prosa de varios años" (in italics) refers to the name of the book, "Издательство «Радуга»/Casa editoara «Raduga»" refers to the name of the publishing company, "Москва/Moscú" refers to the city where it was published, “1989” refers to the year of publishing, and "стр. 195, 196/páginas 195 y 196." refers to the pages where the fragment appears in the quoted book. The author’s name must be apart from the publishing information by a full stop (e.g. Jorge Luis Borges.). The publishing information must be separated by commas (e.g. Prosa de varios años, Casa editora “Raduga”, Moscú, 1989, páginas 195 y 196.). Remember that proper nouns must be written in capital letters (e.g. El Aleph).
The title of the text should be the following: El Aleph -fragmento-. Where “El Aleph” is the name of the short story and the word “-fragmento-” means that it is not the full short story, just an extract of it.

Where “Czytane przez/Read by” indicates the action performed and informs everyone about the responsible person, “Bogusława Sielawę/Boguslaw Sielawa” is the name of the person who read out loud the recorded audio, “w Warszawie/in the city of Warsaw” refers to the city where the recording of the reading was done, “(Polska)/(Poland)” refers to the country where this city is located, “na 14 lutego 2011/February 14th 2011” is the exact date when the reading was recorded, and “o 16.50/at 4.50 PM” is the time where the recording was done.
The book’s cover must be scanned in JPG format using the best possible image resolution, and sent together with the translated text and the audio. If you can not scan it take a full shot picture with a digital camera. The book’s cover must occupy the full frame, the image must be well focused and have a good light. Before you take the picture, make sure that the camera is set to take photo in the best possible quality. If it is necessary take many pictures and send them all.
